Our 2019 ‘Make and Take’ Boxwood Wreath Making Workshops include some open-to-the-public weekend sessions for individual registrations, as well as dates and times that can be reserved for private groups of 8 to 12 family members, friends, and/or clubs/organizations. Create a beautiful, unique wreath…for yourself or for someone special!

Reserve a PRIVATE SESSION for your own group (8-12) of family/friends/coworkers:

WEEKDAY PRIVATE Sessions – Monday, 12/2 through Friday, 12/6:  Morning Sessions: 9 AM – 12 NOON  Afternoon Sessions: 1 – 4 PM  Evening Sessions: 6 – 9 PM

WEEKEND PRIVATE Sessions:  Saturdays – 11/30 and 12/7: 1 – 4 PM  Sundays – 12/1 and 12/8: 9 AM – 12 NOON ~

OR ~ Register as an individual at one of our WEEKEND OPEN SESSIONS (limited to maximum of 12 participants per session):

With the longest day of summer on the horizon that week, we are ready to CELEBRATE SUMMER with good music, yummy food and Kilaurwen wine.  We’ll be looking for you to celebrate with us so come on over!  Bring your picnics, blankets and chairs, and listen to the melodious harmonies of the talented musical duo Mike D’Antoni and Joy Kuhar, better known as “2 Wishes”.  Mike and Joy will be offering a large and varied repertoire of jazz, oldies, rock, country and soul numbers, as well as some of their own original compositions. Registration is underway for our annual wreath-making workshops on Saturday, December 5 from 9 am – 12 noon and Sunday, December 6 from 2-5 pm. Participants receive hands-on assistance to create their own handmade wreaths of freshly cut boxwood and evergreen trims for the holiday season. The fee of $30.00 covers all materials and instruction. Mulled cider, gingerbread cookies and holiday music are part of the morning and participants leave with their own hand-made wreaths to decorate their home or to give as a special gift.  Private wreath-making sessions for groups up to 10 people can also be arranged for those wanting a fun holiday activity for their group.

The workshops will be held in Kilaurwen’s tasting room, 1543 Evergreen Church Road, Stanardsville and are taught by the owner and winemaker Bob Steeves. Class size is limited to 12 persons and interested individuals can reserve a space by contacting the winery in advance at info@kilaurwenwinery.com or 434-985-2535.

Gordonsville’s Famous Fried Chicken Festival

Gordonsville, Virginia

Y’all come on over to Gordonsville to sip wine and savor contest-winning fried chicken and homemade pies. In the late 19^th and early 20^th centuries, Gordonsville became famous for its fried chicken, which was served to passengers of trains stopping in town by local women carrying platters of the delicacy on their heads. Nationally-known at that time, Gordonsville’s fried chicken earned the town the nickname of “chicken-leg center of the universe”.

To celebrate this special heritage, the Town of Gordonsville holds its Famous Fried Chicken Festival each year at the Gordonsville Fire Company Fair Grounds.
